Known as The Gore Edition a.k.a Thomas Harding is a diverse drummer and electronic producer from Adelaide, South Australia who describes his unique sounds as “drum and bass stuff.”
From experience playing in bands from a young age, The Gore Edition has grown to be a music fanatic as well as having some experience in a live setting, which is a large part of The Gore Edition. Thomas found a love for Daft Punk and techno and electronic music, which led him to music production and Ableton Live. Thomas recently had the experience of performing at Futuresounds fortnightly event: Sidechain.
The Gore Edition has developed his sound following the online release of his debut EP Oxiblur. An ambition The Gore Edition has is to incorporate more ‘life like’ drumming into his recorded music in order to display live sessions and live drumming in the recorded versions of his songs. This is a strong aspect of his soon to be released EP Could Your Eyes Be Neon?
The Gore Edition takes on a wide range of influences not only including electronic, but also metal, jazz, punk and rock. He includes the likes of Animals as Leaders and Horror My Friend as strong influences in his production.
Thomas is currently studying the Certificate III In Music Business – Songwriting / Performing Original Music as well as the Certificate IV In Music Business. For Thomas one of the most advantageous features of the Certificate III In Music Business was writing music under time and environment pressure. “This has significantly aided my ability to write music in general,” he said. The Certificate IV has continued to develop Thomas’ knowledge of the Adelaide music industry, allowing The Gore Edition a larger and more promising pathway into extending his live performances and touring. In completing both courses Thomas has the contacts and interactions to move forward with his music.
The upcoming Certified Fresh student showcase highlights musicians studying Certificate IV In Music Business as a final stage of the course. Harding is excited by the upcoming events, “The Certified Fresh Showcase is a really good way to end the Cert IV and by completing the course you get a live show under your belt.”
The showcase is held on Thursday, November 24th at The Hotel Metropolitan and features rock and rollers The New Yorks, rapper DyspOra, emo punks Pemberton, The Gore Edition as well as folk singer songwriter Poppi.
