As the year is coming to an end, it’s time to farewell our students who have all worked incredibly hard throughout their courses.

On October 31st, the CUA30915 Cert III Music Industry (Performance)* students finished on a high, with their end of year showcase delighting friends, family and supporters. There was a total of eight acts including both solo and band performances, and the audience were blown away by everyone’s talent!

Here’s a track by Fridays and OJ, one of the bands to come out of the course. They recorded and uploaded this song to Triple J Unearthed as part of their assessment:

As well as the end of year showcase, another great night was hosted by one of our students in their own time. Cameron Keon hosted a gig called ‘A Good Night Out’ at HQ in Hindley Street. He invited bands from the course to join the lineup, including Mum’s Favourite, Cabin Fever and more! We’re always happy to see students take the initiative to organise events outside of the course – good job, Cameron!

Of course the best news to come out of the CUA30915 Cert III Music Industry (Performance)* is that everyone passed! For a lot of our students this also means completing their SACE! We’re incredibly happy for them and very proud of their efforts. We’ve also received great feedback from the students and we are currently gearing up for next year, having already enrolled heaps of students for 2020! We can’t wait to meet the new cohort and get stuck into another great year of music making.

The Music Business students have also been busy submitting their final assessments while continuing to work on personal projects, performing in bands and volunteering at music events.

Music SA recently hosted the SA Music Awards at Bonython Town Hall on November 22nd which was an incredibly successful, celebratory evening of South Australian artists and industry. The awards wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of our students who volunteered their time and went above & beyond what we expected of them. We extend a huge thank you to these people!

Hannah Weeks is one of the students to recently complete the music business course and has been kicking so many goals throughout her studies and since finishing. We checked in with her for an update, to which she told us, “At the moment I’m working full time at Northern Sound System as the Music Industry Intern. This involves me organising and booking the live events here. At NSS, I’m also part of a creative agency, See Oh, and help with after school programs.”

Hannah also runs her own music agency called The Sesh’n and hosts regular events called Under the Influence. Stay updated here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/theseshn/about/?ref=page_internal

Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported us this year! We wish you all a happy, healthy break and can’t wait to see what the next year will bring for the South Australian Music Community. We’ll be implementing some big changes here at Music SA, including the launch of a brand new short course program! Stay tuned, be safe and we’ll see you in 2020! Over and out 🙂
